ARB Air Lockers use a pneumatically controlled locking mechanism to switch between an open carrier and a fully locked differential. Once installed, all it takes is the simple flip of a switch to go from an open differential that works well on the street to a spool that provides 100% traction to both wheels off-road.Installation:
ARB lockers require no special tools or skills to install, apart from those necessary for fitting a standard differential. An ARB air compressor is the only additional thing you will need as each ARB locker comes complete with switches, solenoids, fittings, nylon air line, and even shims and bearings (if applicable).
The ARB Air Locker uses an air controlled locking mechanism to engage and disengage the unit.
Each locker is machined from a solid piece of nodular iron and encases 4 pinion gears (twice as many as most OEM differentials) with unique geometry that make them up to 30% stronger than OEM gears. The side gears that transfer force to the axle shafts are made from the highest grade nickel alloy steel and are finished with an aerospace grade surface treatment. ARB’s proprietary timed locking system prevents gear grinding during engagement and extends the life of the unit.
